Hand-dyed yarns for the gloriously unhinged.
Hi, I’m Tash, the heart behind Veldt Fibres. I’m so glad you’re here!
I dye small-batch, ethically-sourced merino, mohair and silk in a studio that smells like black coffee, wet wool, and the promise of midnight. Between school runs, plot twists, and the mandatory horror audiobook or metalcore music, I turn fibre into stories you can knit.
Veldt is a love letter to two things:
- Veld – the wild, whispering grasslands of home.
- Felt – the tactile, emotional punch of fibre under fingertips. Together? A landscape you can feel.
I didn’t plan to become a yarn dyer. I studied law (too many rules), worked construction (too much dust), survived finance (too many numbers), and then Art grabbed me by the throat and said, “Finally.”
The Yarn
Every skein is:
- Hand-dyed in tiny batches (no two exactly alike—sorry, perfectionists).
- Ethically sourced (mulesing-free merino, kid mohair, mulberry silk).
- South African at heart—dyed and shipped from the Mother City.
- Named after stories—because yarn should have a plot twist, a slow burn, a knife in the dark.
The Philosophy
Creativity isn’t a side hustle. It’s the main character—the one who burns the manor down and sits knitting in the ashes. Whether I’m writing a redemption arc soaked in blood, dyeing a gradient that screams “stormy moors”, or teaching my oldest child to cast on, it’s all the same thread.
Want in? Grab a skein. Knit a story. Tag me—I repost the wildest WIPs.
