For veldt merino linen, merino mohair, and merino nylon blends (superwash):
– Garments can be machine washed on a cool, gentle cycle, but we highly recommend hand washing for optimal care.
– Always soak in cool water with a tablespoon of white vinegar or food-grade citric acid to preserve colour vibrancy; avoid hot or boiling water as it may activate the dye and cause bleeding.
– Use half a teaspoon of dish soap (Dawn/Sunlight) for soaking, and rinse in clean water with a drop of essential oil for a refreshing finish.
– We do not recommend using Woolite or any softeners.
– After soaking, gently roll the garment in a towel to remove excess water before blocking it to size or shape. Dry the garment lying flat.
Note for Very Dark, Saturated Colors:
– Some very dark, saturated colours may release a small amount of colour while working with the yarn. This is known as “crocking.”
– The colour does not bleed during soaking in cool water.
– To minimize crocking, soak dark skeins in warmish (not boiling) water with an added tablespoon of white vinegar or food-grade citric acid before winding into a ball for use.
For veldt dk bliss and kidsilk (contain some non-superwash fibres):
– These delicate yarns require a gentle hand rinse in cool water. Avoid agitating the yarn to prevent felting.
