FAQs

  • When do you do store updates? Updates take place every two months, featuring a freshly inspired collection of colours alongside popular or favourite colourways. Stay informed about shop update dates by checking the website homepage and following us on Instagram, where we announce them a few days in advance. When a new collection is added to the website, we share it on Instagram, and the yarn is sold on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • I had skeins in my cart but couldn’t check out? (AKA Cart-jacking) Skeins are reserved only upon successful checkout and payment. While in the cart, items can sell out, preventing checkout until the sold-out items are removed. Occasionally, skeins may oversell during high-traffic periods, but any unfulfilled orders will be refunded in full or for unavailable items.
  • What about VAT, import taxes, duties, and related fees? These fees vary by country, and customers are responsible for any applicable VAT, import taxes, customs duties, and related fees. The pricing on VeldtFibres.com does NOT include VAT. For EU customers, new VAT rules for e-commerce may require VAT payment upon parcel arrival.
  • I live outside of South Africa but will be visiting soon, can I have my order shipped to a South African address? Yes! During checkout, provide your correct address under “billing address,” and use the South African street address under “shipping address” where the parcel can be delivered. Payment will be in USD via Paypal, but the website will charge for local shipping.
  • Can I shop in the ZAR currency, it seems cheaper? ZAR currency is only available to South African customers paying from a South African bank account with a local delivery address. International customers will be charged in USD via Paypal, with pricing including transaction fees.
  • Can I visit your store? Can I place a custom order? We do not have a brick-and-mortar shop; the yarn is exclusively sold online during shop updates. Custom orders are only available under pre-order listings in the online store.
  • Will there be sweater kits available? Yes, sweater kits will be listed per size, providing the recommended grams of yarn according to the specified design.
  • What dyes do you use, is it harmful? We use acid dyes that are non-hazardous to humans when used correctly. They are fixed with common white vinegar or food-grade citric acid and heat. The dyes comply with EU regulations and can be certified under the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for ecologically-safe clothing. The dyes pose no risk to the environment when neutralized with baking soda before disposal.
  • Will the colour bleed? Dark, saturated colours can sometimes “crock” or give off colour on your hands while working with them. To reduce crocking, dark skeins can be rinsed in a water and white vinegar solution before winding into a ball. For more information, check our Care Instructions.
